My initial idea for this narrative reminded of a couple of stories that I had heard or seen when I was younger. I wanted to put a twist on these stories that I had heard about these people jumping through time and space to fulfill some ambiguous cause. Traditional stories have the protagonist always win and I didn't like that. So I decided to have a man falling though space and time when he didn't want to and having everything not go his way. This is why in my first picture i had random dates. The tree is a place holder to add spice and show the direction that I wan the photos to go.

Carver Catherdral
I liked this article. Its interesting because I was raised by legally blind woman. there is a level of understanding that you can't have if you haven't experienced what they have or put yourself in their shoes. They have a whole different view on the world. This leads into the drawing of the Cathedral which is like culmination and apex of the mans understanding. He entered the mans article and truly felt what it was like be where someone else way at. What more can you ask for in this world. Everyone walks around thinking no one else has a sophisticated thought except themselves. I think this is why some people never curse the day they're struck down from their high horse and shown the worlds true colors.

I wasn't a big fan of how this article was written. It is interesting to see the perception that people get when they view an art piece though. There is always a sense interpretation thats there. Depending on where you are viewing the piece you won't have the artist over your shoulder explaining it to you. there is a certain aspect to becoming the art that is interesting though. The art you look at and what you collect tells a story in itself. The weird thing is that if you look at it this way anything can become and art piece.
Final
When I thought about a narrative I was reminded of a story I watched when I was a kid about a girl who lept through time. So I wanted to play with that idea and came up with the idea of the man that fell through space and time. He does't know where he's going or why and where ever he goes he messes something up. The picture design is pretty self explanatory and the face in the background represents his rule of the modern world and all of space through his unintended reworking of the space time line.
I used a picture of space for the initial background of the picture. I felt like this would show how he is everywhere at once. Even though I found the picture as it i felt like the colors would really do the comp justice. I was going to have to words and dates in random places but having them above and below him made it feel like he was stuck within certain constraints. The picture of the face in the background represents the influence he has on the world since he is appearing in all of these places at the same time.
I only used one picture in my comp to show that he really has nowhere to go. He is hopelessly lost in the void of space. Of course he will always appear somewhere else on the time line but what good will that do for him. He's not where he wants to be. The stripped lines on his body represent him being torn apart or split into all these places at once. He will never be completely focused and in one spot ever again.

I used shoes in my composition because they are necessary for me to get around. I dont have strong enough feet to walk around barefoot.
I chose to include my laptop since I use it daily. It's my main source for keeping up with the world.
I included this to show a former passion that i forgoed in favor of having a social life.
I find huge value in how much sleep i get. I'd also like to think that the colors on my pillow reflect how whacky my dreams are.
I included this fridge to show where I get the source of my energy. I don't use it a lot but its always there when i need it.
Not many people eat breakfast but I have trouble making it though the day when I don't eat. Good thing they're tasty!
This simply represents how hydrated I stay and how shitty I feel when im not hydrated. I probably have 1:3 ratio in terms of what I eat and drink every meal.
This is a custom messenger bag representing my swag and versatility.
This is a hoodie i stole from my roommate and never gave back. It just goes to show the power that I have to make things mine.

I chose to take a picture of my headphones. My two words were "to twist" and "to impress". It was a tough arduous process trying to decide what thing I used but never noticed fit both of those words. There are a lot of things that I use throughout the day that I special attention to but I feel like I never appreciated my headphones. I always have a pair in my pocket twisted and knotted up and i'm always impressed by the fact that I can go though my life with a soundtracks. Cheers to technology!

I chose to do this mask as my super power because of it's unique smile which scares the sh*t out of people. It frequently scares people on campus as well as my roommates. I don't think every person or every mask has the ability to do this. The pose isn't a happy one contrasting the faces happy mood. I think its a much needed super power.

This a very important place that my friends and I gather. We usually end up here to hang out do homework or talk about the bible. This kind of table and the hanging out that we do reminds me of the last supper. That's why I snuck it into the picture. I want the viewer to understand the wide array of work that goes on here. I also chose to add in a picture of my laptop and a study bible into the composition. The bible I thought was really interesting since it had the address of the cafe where this table is. Our bible studies recently split and this has become a place where I can get work done and see some old friends. As you can see by the messiness of the table we treat this area like were at home.

I chose these items because they represent what I need to make it through the day. I wouldn't be who i am without them or be here. The laptop is a big thing for me since I use mine constantly and that is where learn all of my information. Most of the time my family refer of me as the "tech guy".

This is an upside down picture of my seagull bag. It is the bag that I wear around school. It's really important to me because it shows what the people I know can accomplish and all the people that support them. It makes me happy to see these customized bags all around campus.

MP 1
I decided to take a specific trip I made to class when it was raining. This is why the map and pictures in the background are slightly faded. I also did this to emphasize the text I was using. All I wanted to convey was the fact that everyone gets to school differently but we all end up going to the same class. The pictures in the background are shown in the order of where im at and what I do. The dotted line shows the order like a pirate map. The map in the background is the route that I take to school. I used a filter on the map to make it seem washed out. I think the work turned out well, but I would have rather not used words.
The journey to school itself is a very calming one when I have music in my ears. this can change at a moments notice however, because on many of the days that I go to school the bus is packed and your constantly bumping into people. The only way to get aways from this feeling is to watch the houses or keep your eyes on your phone, reading up on the days most current articles. After I get off the bus i am welcomed by a short walk to the stadium surrounded by construction. The walk is one that I don't necessarily enjoy but it has to be done.

Walker Barrett
Walker Article
I like the idea that being shown in the walker article. I fee like it helped to expand the way that I think about art. I always been taught to look for motifs or themes in art but never the over riding theme that is shown in art. this is an interesting thought that helps to show the progression of what people think of the impression that the world has on them shown through their art. I think looking at art like this you can tell where the thoughts of a person truly originate.
I didn't really understand the in the garden part. I felt like it floated through her life and precess's really quickly. I also don't think of rules so much as rules but more of parameters set in a persons head for what they believe or what they were taught as kids. There can definitely be a better explanation for this or a deeper study done to show what he was talking about.
Barrett
I like his thoughts in this article showing that age doesn't mater in your perception of things. You acuire those things when you're a kid. It's almost like your mind is programmed to follow what is shown in media and the media is meant to influence you. the magazine cover is a great example of this.
I do wish that they used more age groups. For example, there are many different levels in the development of the brain that can be examined. You could also look at more creative people vs. people who have a more streamlined mind. The only other think that I think could have been done is the presentation of the words denotation and connotation.

Cheese Monkeys in the Zone Defense....OHNO!
Cheese Monkeys
The excerpt from the cheese monkeys was interesting. It had a style that i've never read before. it was put together well but it also seemed like it was almost rushed. I felt like he needed to get his point across before time ran out. This makes sense if you look at what he was talking about and telling us. There are parts in our life that were supposed to be able to define in a moment and show everyone. It's like living in a world of people pleasers. We are inputs expected have a certain output based of what we know to be true or perceive but we still fail to see beyond ourselves.
I didn't exactly agree with the idea that there are perceptions of the world that are beyond us. We designed perspective ourselves as a people and I feel like we wouldn't be able to understand a dimension that we can't be in or perceive. We have to comprehend in order to create, even if it something that we make up.
The Heresy of Zone Defense
The heresy of zone defense was a very interesting article. It took a very different turn from what I was expecting. The language in the article was great and accurately described the feel you get as a person who is completely engulfed in a moment or sport. I agree with his idea that the use of rules makes the sport better and keeps it forever evolving.
The addition of rules makes the world that we live in more rigid and keeps us drawing inside the lines or makes us less creative. I would have to disagree with this partially. I believe that the rules that govern us and order were put in place to increase our chance for fun and to keep up from ruining the fun (or in some other cases survival). I just don't think that I would so rigidly describe the middle line between freedom and rules that we walk. I feel like keeping basketball fun is a little more broad then that.
Introduction
Hi, my name is Myles Didlick. I'm pursing and degree in Linguistics right now. My interest include sports and reading. This excludes watching sports though. I have a huge interest in music and would like to learn to play the violin. My goal after I obtain my degree is to become a professor.
